LaGuardia Airport LGA was built in 1929, on a 105-acre private flying
field. Ground was broken on September 9, 1937 for a new airport, which was
built jointly by the city of New York and the Federal Works Progress
Administration. It was dedicated on October 15, 1939 as New York City
Municipal Airport.
LaGuardia Airport LGA serviced 25 million passengers in 2007.
