On July 3, 2009 police arrested a Transportation Security Administration Officer after she avoided pre-boarding screening and boarded an airplane at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Wanda Weems, 45, of Newark, boarded Continental Flight 1011, bound for Houston, Friday morning but neither she nor her luggage was screened.

The flight was held up for over an hour as every passenger was taken off the plane and screened again. The plane took off at 10:15 a.m. without Weems, who was questioned and taken into custody.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman John Kelly said Saturday that a subsequent investigation by agency police found she was wanted on traffic-related warrants.

The agency operates the airport. It's unclear why Weems avoided the screenings. The incident is being investigated by the TSA in cooperation with the Port Authority.
